In 1913 he married Rachel Cohen and in 1920 he made his first appearance at the Salon d'Automne where he presented a painting titled ''From Montmartre to Les Halles''. He also worked abroad, notably in the Netherlands, painting many windmills in the years 1927-28, and he traveled to Belgium, where he painted the port of Antwerp. In homage to Renoir in 1963 he painted RENOIR's house ''la Collette'' in Cagnes-sur-Mer. His favorite subjects always remained the heart of Paris, Montmartre, including the Sacré-Cœur, the suburbs of Paris, the old fortifications, and the Canal St Martin.
