After studying ceramics at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris, he moved to Vallauris at the end of World War II. There, he founded Atelier Callis with Roger Capron in 1946. Two years later, he established his own pottery workshop on Chemin du Fournas, in the village. He was a friend, colleague, and neighbor of Pablo Picasso, and the two men learned from each other certain aspects of their respective specialties. Robert Picault was also an accomplished filmmaker and photographer, and directed a series of four short films with Picasso and show business personalities of the 1950s. He used copper oxide and iron oxide in his glazes, and most of his work is characterized by green and brown geometric patterns composed of crosses and knots, stripes, and waves.

https://lerepairedesantiquites.com/en/products/ensemble-de-6-assiettes-creuses-ou-bols-robert-picault-decor-fleurs
