Origin:
This authentic signed cuirass was made at the famous Manufacture royale de Klingenthal in Alsace, founded in 1730 during the reign of Louis XV. The first French factory dedicated to the production of bladed weapons, Klingenthal was renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship in the manufacture of swords, sabers, and cuirasses.

In 1829, under the direction of the Coulaux brothers, Klingenthal was the exclusive supplier of steel plates for cuirasses, intended for the heavy cavalry of the French army, particularly the cuirassiers. The signature present on this backplate confirms its authenticity and its official manufacture for the State.

This authentic historical piece was discovered at the Abbey of Bonnefontaine, located in the Ardennes, France.
