Superb and rare black cast iron stable wall tie, featuring a finely modeled horse head, holding a tie ring in its mouth and topped with an upper attachment point for the lead rope.
A powerful and elegant piece, a testament to the 19th-century French equestrian world, where the beauty of metal met the nobility of the horse.

A utilitarian work of art from great French foundries

This exceptional piece bears the embossed marking "C F" accompanied by a marine anchor, the signature of the Camion Frères foundry, located in Vivier-au-Court (Ardennes).
Active from the second half of the 19th century, this house is famous for its architectural castings, fireplace inserts, and highly decorative stable accessories.

The realism of the sculpture – intense gaze, powerful nostrils, fiery mane – evokes the contained strength of the draft horse, companion on the road, in hunting and in war.
Every detail reflects the spirit of a time when French craftsmanship knew how to unite aesthetics and robustness, the utilitarian and the symbolic.

A dual equestrian function

  • Lower ring: used to attach the bridle, short lead rope, or rein of the horse.

  • Upper ring, cast in the iron above the head: intended to receive the main lead rope or to hang the harness between uses.

This double device, completed at the back by a solid fixing nut, guaranteed a strong attachment to the stable or relay wall, capable of supporting the weight and tension of a resting horse.
