An elegant Parisian scene

This superb painting depicts a graceful woman dressed in a sumptuous pink gown, strolling elegantly on the Place de l'Étoile, in front of the Arc de Triomphe. The impressionistic touch of Eugène Leliepvre and his luminous palette give this work a timeless and romantic atmosphere, typical of female portraits from the Belle Époque.

The influence of artists such as Jean-Gabriel Domergue and Pierre Gatier is perceptible in this work, which is part of the great tradition of elegant portraits of the 20th century.

About the artist: Eugène Leliepvre (1908-2013)

🎨 A master of female portraiture and military painting
Eugène Leliepvre was born in Montreuil-sur-Mer in 1908 and passed away in 2013 at the age of 105. Recognized as a painter of elegant women and horsemen, he devoted a significant part of his work, between 1940 and 1960, to refined female portraits, evoking the glamorous world of Gabriel Domergue.

🛡 Official painter for the armed forces from 1951, he was also a recognized specialist in uniformology and military history. His works illustrated Le Chasseur Français for forty years, as well as the famous Manufrance calendar for twenty-three consecutive years.

🏛 With his wife, he also contributed to the creation of models and figurines for the Musée de la Marine in Paris.

🏅 His talent and exceptional career were crowned with the title of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur in 1998.
