Superb pair of green vases with floral decoration made by Theodore Legras French Art Nouveau 1880-1900.
This lovely French enamelled glass vase is typical of Legras, one of the great glassmakers of the Belle Époque.
It is hand-blown from dark green glass with enamelled flowers on one side.

It is a very beautiful pair of large vases.
They are beautiful.

The vases are in good condition. Under the base of one of the vases, there is a small chip, see last photo.

François-Théodore Legras, born in 1839, came from a modest background, having started his life as a logger in the Vosges, south of Strasbourg. In 1859, Legras determined there was potentially more to life than trees and leaves and secured an office apprenticeship at the glassworks in Clairey, a long-established manufacturer producing drinking glasses and tableware which – crucially for Legras – included the making of multiple frosted pieces.

Legras used a significant number of signatures and, to further confuse matters, many pieces are not signed at all.
