Pretty oil painting depicting an old man with a white beard.
The colors are very beautiful and the painting is very finely made.
The man's face is turned to the left. We feel the introspection of this man, the passing of time, wisdom, and simplicity. This painting is calming. The painter knew how to touch us; his painting is sensitive. While his gaze is fixed, his hair seems to float in the air.
Superb work by Édouard Letourneau (1851/1907), French sculptor and painter, student of Frémiet, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français starting in 1874
