Beautiful pair of French Art Deco sconces made around 1930 in pressed frosted clear glass and solid nickel-plated brass.

Aubin OLLIER, who graduated from the École Centrale in 1890, first worked as an ironmonger before taking over Fargues & Apcher, a renowned manufacturer of crystals and glassware for lighting and a supplier to the City of Paris and the Compagnie des Chemins de Fer. In 1931, he also founded Les Etablissements Ollier et Cie to operate three stores in Paris, the largest of which was at numbers 20, 21, and 24 rue de l’Hirondelle (6 place Saint-Michel), as well as warehouses in Aubervilliers. His offerings were aimed at individuals and manufacturers of lighting equipment and included numerous models of Muller Frères, Hanots, and Bohemian glassware.
Some models bear the Ollier signature. The half-bowl sconces are actually bowls that were cut in half at the Hanots factory to create wall lamps... Most of the old catalogs from the 1920s from French lighting stores feature this type of half-bowl wall lighting. The bowls had only one signature, so often we can find the sconces without a signature as well. One of the two shades in this set is signed Ollier. The other is not signed. This model of sconce is shown in article #1305bis of the 1932 Ollier product catalog.

Dimensions:
Width: 30 cm (11.8 in)
Height: 11.5 cm (4-1/2 in)
They project 14 cm (5-1/2") from the wall.

The wall lights are in good condition. Several shades have chips near the edge where the shades meet the wall. Since they are close to the wall, they do not detract.
