The Sacred Heart is a devotion to the heart of Jesus Christ, as a symbol of divine love by which God took on human nature and gave his life for men. This devotion is particularly present within the Catholic Church, but also, to a lesser extent, in the Anglican Church and in some Lutheran Churches. It emphasizes the concepts of love and adoration for Christ. The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart was instituted by Pope Clement XIII in 1765 and extended to the entire Catholic Church by Pope Pius IX in 1856.
This painting has a beautiful black and gold frame. The drawing is protected by an old glass.
It is a large size.
