Rare Louis XVI period officer's clock in chased and gilded bronze.
Striking movement chiming the hours and half-hours, pull-cord striking on demand, and pull-cord alarm clock indicating hours, half-hours, and quarter-hours in Arabic numerals. Complicated model in its original gilding, with double-sided front and back motifs.
Quadrilateral square case topped with a cyma recta pediment with a movable ring-shaped handle, resting on small top-shaped feet with circular scrapers. Beautiful, very prominent decoration of laurel wreaths, oak leaves, acorns, rosettes, pearls, and trees of life. Side opening for on-demand striking mechanism (or pull). Beautiful hands.
The timepiece is signed: Samuel Marti Medaille d'Or 1900
In good condition, small chip on the pediment.
