This painting highlights a tea scene. On a pleated yellow tablecloth rests a silver teapot surmounted by an eagle on the cabochon. At the end of the teapot, there is a small basket to collect drips. The teapot is in the style of Gallia Christofle.
Beside it, a blue porcelain cup, finely decorated in the style of refined Creil and Montereau porcelains, with its small spoon.
Behind the teapot, we can see the sugar bowl with its silver tongs.
In the background, there is a glass bottle labeled "Rhum".

This painting is interesting because it presents contrasts of materials (silver metal, porcelain, fabric, and glass) and brings together precious materials by their substance and color (silver, golden tablecloth, white porcelain) and the preciousness of the container and its content.
It is a very lovely tea scene.
One feels the imposing and solid presence of the teapot, as well as its delicacy and preciousness.

The painting is very well executed with great detail and choice of colors.
It is well framed, which further emphasizes the presence of the teapot.
It was painted in 1882, as indicated below the artist's signature.

Henry Ducloux (1860-1930) is a French Impressionist painter from the late 19th and early 20th century who created Impressionist landscapes in the south of France and still lifes.
This painter is, alas, too rare on the art market.
His work has been exhibited at the "Le Yaca" gallery in Saint-Tropez, on the French Riviera.
The exhibition label is affixed to the back of the canvas.
