Large antique French toilet set consisting of a basin and a pitcher from the Jules Vieillard Bordeaux (JVB) factory. The model is Rouen. Rare to find! Important polychrome enamelled earthenware pitcher and basin, "Rouen" model, with a decoration of lambrequins and vegetal scrolls, marks on the back in blue and impressed marks "BH". Late 19th-century work.

In 1835, this factory was purchased by the Irishman David Johnston. He then produced pieces inspired by the highly competitive English Staffordshire fine earthenware. His company would employ up to 700 workers. In 1844, Jules Vieillard, an employee of David Johnston, bought the financially struggling factory. It was renamed Jules Vieillard & Cie in 1845. Production was industrialized and refocused solely on fine earthenware. This quality earthenware would be rewarded at the Universal Exhibitions.

  restored with the old technique. You can see staples that were placed at the bottom of the basin. This is a 19th-century repair technique that is no longer known how to repair.
